Setting your location in Pulsara Web
Understanding and setting your location correctly in Pulsara Web is important because it affects features like seeing hospital availability, selecting patient destinations, calculating ETAs, and joining incidents if you are an EMS user.
How Pulsara Determines Your Location
Pulsara tries to set your location automatically when you log in. Here's how it works:
- Permission Request: Pulsara will ask for permission to access your location.
- Granting Permission:
- If you grant permission and your browser or device can find a precise location, Pulsara sets your location automatically. You'll see a message confirming "high accuracy location."
- If you grant permission but only a low-accuracy location can be found, Pulsara will indicate this (often with a yellow message) and may give you the option to pick your location on a map. If you pick a location manually, that becomes your set location.
- Denying Permission: If you deny permission, dismiss the request, or if a browser/system is blocking it, Pulsara cannot set your location automatically.
Checking Your Location Status
Look at the location icon in the Pulsara Web header:
- Green Dot: Success! Your location is set. This could be a high-accuracy location found automatically by your device or a location you picked manually on the map.
- Red X or Icon: Problem! Your location isn't set. This usually happens if you are denied permission, browser or system settings block location services, or if Pulsara can't determine your location. You might see messages asking you to enable permissions.
- Gray Dot/Flashing: Pulsara is actively trying to determine your location after you've granted permission.
Troubleshooting Location Issues
If you see a red location icon or messages about enabling permissions, try these steps:
- Browser Permissions: Ensure your web browser can access your location.
- Microsoft Edge: Go to Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Location.
- Google Chrome: Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > Location. (You might need IT help to change these settings).
- Computer Location Services: Your computer's main location service must also be turned on.
- Windows: Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & Security > Location. Ensure "Location services" and "Let apps access your location" are ON. If you can't change this, you may need IT help. If high accuracy isn't available, you can sometimes set a "Default location" here as a fallback.
- Mac: Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Ensure "Location Services" is turned ON and your specific browser is enabled in the list. If you cannot change these settings, you might need IT help.
Manual Location Setting
If Pulsara cannot get an accurate automatic location, but you have been granted permission, you may be prompted to pick your location on a map. Setting it this way will result in a green location icon.
If you continue to have trouble, please contact your local administrator or IT department for assistance. Administrative access might be needed to adjust the required settings.
