Receive patients from an Incident

NOTE: Additional functionality surrounding Incidents is coming soon:

  • Ability to receive notification of a new incident
  • At discretion of Incident Command, ability to see summary of patients associated with the incident
  • Ability to create an incident
  • Ability to add patients to an incident

STEP 1: RECEIVE ALERT

  • You will receive the alert just like you receive normal prehospital alerts on a daily basis
  • (1) Tap the banner to see patient details

STEP 2: ACTIVATE (IF DOWNSTREAM TEAMS CONNECTED)

  • (2) Tap Activate to activate downstream care teams.
  • Users  have the option of selecting Trauma Level or activating without trauma level
  • Tip: If a user doesn’t have downstream care teams configured, this step  can be skipped.  If you do have downstream care teams connected you need to ”Activate” to prevent repeat alerts.
  • Tip: For large scale Incidents you can silence alerts for individual patients (bell icon on individual patient screen) or for the entire incident (coming soon, bell icon on the main incident screen)

STEP 3: FIND PATIENT ON PATIENT ARRIVAL

  • From the main patient screen, tap SCAN (3a) to scan the wristband (or other Incident ID) to open the patient channel.
  • NOTE: Users  can also find the patient in the list and tap on the channel. If the patient isn’t visible  under the My Patients then tap ALL patients (3b) at the top center for an expanded list. Scanning is much preferred if enabled.

STEP 4: SET ED ARRIVAL TIME (4)

  • It is important to set the door time so Incident Command knows the patient has arrived
  • This is particularly important when patients might be arriving by personal vehicle, rideshare, PD, etc.,  and the hospital has communicated availability to take ___ number of patients
  • Setting door time and entering these patients will help Incident Command appropriately load balance and not overload the hospital system, if possible
