How to Activate a Patient Channel

When EMS creates a patient for your facility, the normal course of action is to review patient details and then activate the patient. Though activation is not required, it is the most common action for EMS patients and is when other team members will be alerted and begin contributing to patient care in Pulsara. 



NOTE: General patients do not appear with the Activate button. To add people to the care team, select the Team tab and click Update.

How to Cancel a Patient Channel 

A facility may cancel an EMS created patient if the patient has not been activated. The Cancel option is available in all EMS created patients except for General. 

Open the Patient Details panel.

Click on the Cancel Case button in the upper right section of the main patient details.

A confirmation will appear indicating the case will be canceled.

Click the Cancel Case button.

After canceling, the patient appears in the list as Canceled and the care team receives a case canceled alert.

How to Stop a Case

  • A patient may be stopped at a facility after the patient has been Activated.

Open the Patient Details panel.

Click on the Stop Case button in the upper right section of the main patient details.

A confirmation will appear indicating the case will be stopped.

Click the Stop Case button.

When stopping a STEMI case, HQ presents Stop STEMI reasons.  Select an appropriate reason or make no selection if the provided options do not apply.

A confirmation message will appear for a few moments at the top of the page.

Care team members will receive a notification that the patient was stopped.

Stopped case times are displayed at the top of the Patient details panel 

How to Restart a Case

  • A facility may Restart any patient created at the facility
  • A facility may Restart an EMS created patient when their facility is selected in the Destination field

Find the stopped patient in the list and open the patient details panel.

Click on the Restart Case button in the upper right.

A prompt will appear indicating the case will be restarted. Click on Restart Case.

A confirmation message will appear at the top of the screen that the case was restarted.

Care team members will receive a notification that the patient was restarted.
