Biometrics for Android

 

What's changing

  • Team members now have the option to log in and/or PIN in with Biometrics for Pulsara on Android.
  • If Biometrics are not used, manual input of username and password or PIN can be used to access the application.
  • This feature is not supported on devices running Pulsara that are used by multiple people.

Who’s impacted

  • All Pulsara Android users who enable the feature using a device that supports Biometrics

Why you’d use it

  • Log in to Pulsara without having to manually type your username and password
  • PIN in to Pulsara without having to input your Pulsara PIN
  • Faster and easier access to Pulsara

Rollout Timing

  • The feature will be available in Pulsara for Android version 57, scheduled to begin release on February 19th
  • NOTE: This feature was previously released on Pulsara for iOS

Getting started

  • Admins
    • No action required
  • End Users: 
    • Upgrade to Pulsara mobile version 57 and enable the feature in Pulsara Settings
      • The phone running Pulsara must have the Biometrics feature enabled under Settings

More Powerful Patient Roster Upload 

What's changing

  • We've enhanced Patient Roster Uploads in Pulsara with the following features.
    • Configurable Patient IDs: Configurable ID values for patients can now be included when uploading a roster.
    • Automatic Age Calculation: Pulsara now automatically calculates patient age based on the provided date of birth.
    • Name Splitting: Full names (provided in a single column) can now be split into separate First Name and Last Name fields during the upload process.

Why you’d use it

  • Configurable IDs provide the power to save a barcode obtained by scanning a patient wristband
  • Automatic age calculation and correct splitting of first and last name ensure that patient channels created from a roster upload have more precise and accurate demographic information

Who’s impacted

  • Team members who use Pulsara to upload patient rosters to create channels for an incident

  • These features became available on January 21st, 2025

Restart Patient Channels Up to 24 Hours After Stop

What's changing

  • Patient channels can now be restarted up to 24 hours after they are stopped.
  • Previously, patient channels could only be restarted for 4 hours after being stopped.

Improved Image Quality for Android

What's changing

  • Clarity for images attached to a patient channel has improved.
  • This change affects both files added under the Images button and those that appear under ECGs.

  • Team members who use Pulsara for Android to view images attached to a patient channel

Rollout

  • The feature will be available with Pulsara for Android version 57, scheduled to release on February 19th

 

Pulsara for Android Version Support Information

  • Starting in Pulsara for Android version 57, customers with devices running Android OS version 10 or 11 will no longer see Pulsara in the Play Store or be able to upgrade to new Pulsara versions.
    • Android OS versions 12 and newer are supported
  • Why did we make this change?
    • Google is not actively developing for these older operating systems
    • To help ensure our customers are running on newer, more secure devices with newer operating systems
  • Android version 57 for Pulsara release will begin on February 19th
