Control Who Can See and Join an Incident

The "Join by Proximity" setting is a feature designed to control access to incidents. This ensures that only relevant personnel can view and participate in incident management.

EMS users can “Join an Incident” via “Proximity” to the incident. An EMS user will be able to join an incident if their device is within ⅓ mile radius of the incident and/or if the agency’s incident coverage area overlaps the incident location. Review How to Join an Incident for more information on joining an incident.

When Creating an Incident, Incident Command will have the option to check “Allow Others to Join by Proximity.”

This setting determines if EMS users can join the incident. “Allow Others to Join by Proximity” defaults to checked, meaning if an EMS user's device is within ⅓ mile radius of the incident and/or if the agency’s incident coverage area overlaps the incident location, they will be able to see and join the incident.

To control who can see and join the incident, the “Allow Others to Join by Proximity” setting can be unchecked.

When “Allow Others to Join by Proximity” is unchecked, the only entities that will be able to view the incident are the entity that owns the incident, as well as any entities that have been added as participating entities to the incident.
